On the back of weeks of anti-Arab/Muslim hysteria to justify the recent passing of the Anti-Terror Laws, the Arab community has found itself under direct racist attack in Cronulla last weekend and now here in Perth, with the vandalising of a house in Kewdale.

The over 5000 people carrying Australian flags and chanting racist slogans, urged on by neo-Nazi groups and the conservative media, have highlighted the true ramifications of the War on Terror and the years of racism perpetuated through Australia's immigration policy.

Despite this Howard has tried to explain the events as nothing more than a question of law and order, saying "violence, thuggery, loutish behaviour, smashing people's property, intimidating people – all of those things are breaches of the law and I don't think the actions should be given some
kind of special status because they occur against the background of this or that."

We are urging all those who are opposed to racism in any form and recognise the true victims in this are the Muslim and Arab community, who have been scapegoated by the Federal Government, to stand together in a show of solidarity
against racism. Join the speakout, 4pm this Friday, to also protest against the Howard government's continued policy of divide and rule to justify illegal wars in Iraq and the removal of our civil liberties.

Rally is supported by the Perth Civil Rights Network, involving the Greens, human rights lawyers, the Social Justice Network, Socialist Alliance and anti-war, refugee groups.

p.s. On Tuesday night the National Union of Student's at a meeting of over 100 people at the University of Technology, Sydney decided to call a rally for this Sunday in response to the racist violence in Cronulla last weekend.

Fundamentalists Refuse To Use the Term ‘Hate Crime’

By not speaking out against the racism that spawned the rioting in Australia, Mr. Howard appears to enjoy the convenient justification of a heavy police presence, which would be useful in suppressing non-violent civil inquiry of his criminal negligence.


When negligent courts and ministries fail to provide legal standing for a redress of grievances, they are most deserving of democracy’s wrath.


When policymakers fail to provide a safe non-violent venue to chastise oppressive entities who exploit scapegoats and loopholes, they are most deserving of democracy’s wrath - not witches or feminists, or whatever scapegoats religious leaders would exploit under their constitutional loophole to speak what would otherwise be deemed ‘hate speech’.


Fundamentalists refuse to use the term ‘hate crime’, lest the public should declare their religious scriptures guilty of propagating politically incorrect ‘hate speech’. In overcoming the socially divisive ills of bigotry and racism, the majority has finally determined that the scapegoat of unrest is the minority we call religious fundamentalists.


Indeed religious fundamentalists have put this world on a dangerous edge with its inherent bigotry, but I plead with my Aussie friends to not give in to racial pandemonium incited by soulless religious zealots who thrives on this. Please do not give cause for justification of both racism and martial law.


Our house of justice removes the veil and allows us to look upon its scales, and measure the precision of its counterweights, and assures us that there is justice for all who pass under the judge’s gavel.

Nach Wochen antiarabischer und antimuslimischer Hetze, die u.a. dazu diente, neue Terrorismus- Gesetze rechtzufertigen, kam es zu einer Eskalation der rassistischen Ausschreitungen in Australien.
